Women are not going to wear pantyhose. I have read several hopeful post of them making a comeback etc…won’t happen. We have an entire generation brainwashed that hose are uncomfortable, old fashioned etc…and the scabby legs and flip flops are the only way to go.
I keep hoping. Remeber when women burned their bras? They did not kill the bra. Women do not know how to purchase hose either. They complain of comfort. I know my wife buys these hose that are control top and yes they are uncomfortable. Getting away from all the marketing BS-do they really control anything? What little they control it is not worth the discomfort.

Mfgs. have decided that that is what sells. Try to find higher end hose in a department store that is not Control Top. I just don’t get it and never will. I used to look forward to the Sunday ads but not any more.

GO ahead women of the world-look like trash. What’s next? It is too uncomfortable to take a shower so I won’t any more…Showers are unfashionable and for old people. IS THAT WHERE WE GO.
I AM DONE WITH HOPING. Your ugly skanky legs will land you a redneck for a husband and think of all the money you can save on dental work also. That is where women are heading.
yah..well said indy but fear not…I truly believe there will always be women who will wear pantyhose…..there have been many pics posted here on this site to prove that alot of women are bucking the trend…and both young and old. I guess i’m a bit luckier living in a climate where there are 4 seasons and there’s more pantyhose wearing women here….I am totally with you with bare-ugly legs and those disgusting, horrible flip flops that should only be seen at the bloody beach and not at work….

I simply adore well-dressed women in silky sheer pantyhose and I would enjoy both seeing and chatting about pantyhose. My wife wears them alot and I get to shop with her. Love to chat with another male about our wives pantyhose collection.
I think the last time I saw pantyhose was at the start of November. To be certain, it’s been extremely cold here. I’ve hardly seen skirts with boots let alone legs.
It’s more than one generation that has been brainwashed. I’ve seen women in their 60’s bare-legged. Bare is equated with youth.
Like the others who have posted on this thread, I simply cannot bring myself to find bare legs and flip flops appealing. I am simply too old for that. Can’t help but think that women know this and have gone to bare legs mainly because pantyhose are too feminine and attractive.
There’s really no indication anywhere that pantyhose will come back. For my own sanity, I will have to accept this.
You guys thing the girls on pantyhose websites wear pantyhose on a regular basis? Bull they are paid models. How many women in their 20’s and 30’s really wear pantyhose on this site? My guess would be 1 out of 500.
We just are not going to see it anymore. I was in a hosiery department yesterday in a major department store…very poor selection. My wife has not worn hose in about 2 years.
Give me the pale scabby legs. Nothing like bruises to get wood by.
well over here in great britain pantyhose are popular with young and older women almost everwhere i look in the city centres there is hundreds of women of all ages in pantyhose it might have something to do with the fact we have a colder climate than say usa i dont know really how women feel but i think i would rather be bare legged in say the sunshine of florida or california than sweat more i think its to do with personal choice i think weather has a lot to do with it i might be wrong been to many countries in europe all alot colder and yes they wear more pantyhose ive been to usa and yes ive noticed a huge difference in numbers of women wearing pantyhose

10 or so years from now many of these young, non hose wearing woman will be soccer moms, raising kids.
Granted, most will still be hose-less, and likely proud of it.
So do you really think their daughters, the next generation, are going to emulate mom? Because, that happens all the time, right?
All these young girls are going to want to copy the fashions of their mothers. They’ll want to go hose less and wear hip huggers. They’ll have short, unkept hair, wear the strappy heels with no hose.
SOmehow I don’t think so.
Young girls coming of age are not going to dress like their mothers and adopt their fashions– especially fashions of 10 years ago.
Does that mean hose will come back? well, it’s not guarenteed. However, it’s a pretty safe bet that the bare look will be dated.

I do not know if it is over or not. I do know that I go through IU campus to work everyday and all (yes all) the 20somethings I see are in jeans. On the most marginally warm day, the flip-flops come out. I do not see any other style. Occasionally, I see one of the instructors. I do not know which department she works in, but she is always in sheer hosiery and a knee length dress to show them off. She stares back at me as I stare at her. hee. She does not seem to mind. But that is about it. The rest of the teachers are frumpy. The young guys don’t seem to mind. I don’t know if they care or not but there is no outward sign that they are concerned. I appreciate what I have at home and the wonderful women that model pantyhose on this website. Thank you all very much.
Sorry but I disagree. I still see nylons pretty often here in Pa. Whenever I am at the mall, especially at the jewelry stores, etc, women still wear hose quite often, in the business office where I work I would say more than half of the women there wear hose on a regular basis even though it’s not maditory, I will often notice women wearing hose along with long dress pants and sometimes even under jeans. Where I take martial arts, I very often will almost always see some women there for the earlier younger class there to pick up their children and since you must remove your shoes, I will usually see at least one or two pairs of hosed feet often under long pants but sometimes with a skirt. Every time I watch Fox News which is quite often, you see the women commentators wearing pantyhose ( E.D. Hill, Laurie Dhue, Patty Ann Brown, etc.) I still see women wearing hose on “the View” I still see women attacking each other on Jerry Springer just to see them claw at each others clothes and reveal pantyhose. My daughter who is in high school often attends dances and her and a lot of her friends wear pantyhose with their dresses.
I was looking up soem sales statistics, and it seems last year 3 of the reporting pantyhose manufacturers ( Calvin Klein, No Nonsense and one other one I forgot all went up in sales ) That’s only three manufacturers and there are many more. I am still seeing women in hose in FHM, Stuff, And Maxim. Granted a lot or fishnet. fishnet and sheer nylon mix, but it’s still hose and there are lot’s of thigh high stockings in tere as well.
If I were an alarmist, I might agree with some of you, but I believe pantyhose are again making an upswing. I agree, I don’t think they will ever be as popular as they were in the 70’s, but they will always be there.
Someone mentioned models, well everyone of those models in hose may be paid, but they also are made aware of the sexuality of pantyhose/stockings and if they know it, they always have it in their minds when they wanna be sexy and word of mouth is a great advertiser.
Also keep in mind that while there are many women who don’t wear hose to work or everyday wear, there are many I have met that are more than happy to wear them to tun on their partners.
Just think about it this way, High heels sure are not what I would consider comfortable and casual and they are also expensive, yet women are still buying them even if they dont wear them as often. don’t get bummed out guys. Keep your heads up, pantyhose aren’t going away anytime soon.
I have to concur with uk-guy on this, I live in Wales in the UK and pantyhose or tights as we call them are certainly making a comeback. I regularly see women wearing them, whereas 12 months ago it was tights drought situation. What encourages me more tham anything is the number of young girls i see wearing, 14-18 yrs. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no pervert, I just mean it bodes well for the future. The other thing I’ve noticed is the number of tv presenters returning to wearing. Things are looking up in the UK.
As I mentioned in another post, I did see a woman whom I never see NOT wearing pantyhose and my wife wears them religiously on a daily basis. O can tell you that every time I go to Walt Disney World I do not have to look too far to find women wearing pantyhose, even in the dead of summer, and I am not referring to the ladies who work there either.
Have pantyhose somewhat fallen by the way side in terms of fashion? I would have to agree with that belief, and I do have to believe that hosiery is making a comeback on many levels, however I do not believe that it will happen quickly or be as popular as it was say in the 80’s and early 90’s.
One thing we have to consider regarding pantyhose as a whole is that they were really popular because it did not matter where you looked on television you would find a woman wearing pantyhose. From Love Boat to Dukes of Hazzard to even the Bob Newhart show, you would find women in pantyhose. Take a look at television now and you rarely see many women wearing pantyhose, and whether women wish to believe it or men wish to accept it, women will mimic the fashion seen in movies and on television. They want to have the hair of a certain actress, for instance the Rachel hairstyle from Friends, and the look of whoever they see in whatever show or movie they are watching. If all you see are old women wearing pantyhose on television and in movies, do you honestly think that the younger women are going to wear them? Of course not, because they are going to be seen as an older person’s attire.
Pantyhose will make a comeback but the thing we are more than likely going to have to accept is that they are never going to be as popular as they once were. Stockings are still around and still worn by women with garterbelts, so if they can stick around so can pantyhose!
I am a 37 year old woman. I wear pantyhose every day. I wear them at night as well. Nothing like slipping into bed with hose on, nothing like it at all. Have I always worn them? Nope. Would I be caught dead without them now? Nope again. Flips Flops suck. Never worn ‘em never will. There will always be people out in the world that don’t like hose, but there will always be women out there that wear them. Hang in there indy…the trend will shift again one day and they’ll be everywhere you look.
