My s/o doesn’t give me but a glimpse of her hose, as she can’t wait to remove it when she gets home. She claims that “it’s restrictive” and “uncomfortable,” and she also has difficulties with it slipping. I think she needs to change brands (she wears L’eggs) and possible switch to a larger size (I think she wears size B, where she is taller than the max. 5′4″ and weighs at or above 165). My questions to you: what brands do you think are most comfortable and does PH size make a difference to borderline wearers? Any other suggestions?

Of all the various Wolford styles I’ve tried, I only found the Miss W support tights to be uncomfortable.

With regard to your comment about sizing bfd, there’s quite often a comment on the packaging that if your size is on the borderline you should try the next size up (Marks & Spencer). The only problem this brings about is that a woman might not want to admit to herself that she’s no longer medium size, and is now officially ‘large’ (queen?).

The experts all say to go a size up if you’re borderline. Your S/O is definitely Q size being 5′4″ and over 165. I totally understand, however, that that reality check is a tough one for women. My ex who was a daily wearer stopped wearing daily due to a “perfect storm” of reasons, but one was because she started putting on weight and squeezing into size B sheer energy’s just got to be too much.

Comfort is critical and the right size is the first step in that direction.

that is the problem right there. hose aren’t uncomfortable(except control tops). if you stop lying to yourself and get the right size they will be comfortable.

I would say its all just a matter of trying different pantyhose and finding out which are the most comfortable for the person wearing them.Wolfords are a bit out of my budget so I”ve never tried them,I would like to try a pair of Burlington I plan to pick up a pair next time I”m near the coat factory store, although peavey, and no nonsense are nice neither one of them are long enough even though the size chart claims they are.I feel Leggs are comfortable and they fit nice,my all around favorites are Hanes Alive.

I love to wear pantyhose I even wear them openly with shorts and I Love it when I see a lady wearing them.
After trying several brands I’ve found the most comfortable ones for me are Hanes Barely There….they are light, comfortable and have a nice panty. I have had to check on a few occasions as I thought I’d forgotten to put them on after showering….Heaven Forbid I be hoseless! Yucky! Anyway…they are awesome and cheap too.

My wife feels that Jockey Sheer and Comfortable Control Top are very comfortable.

She also likes Banana Republic Perfect Sheer Control Top.

In a pinch Leggs Sheer Comfort although she doesn’t care for the shadow toe.

To me it doesn’t matter. Because I don’t wear them. As long as they look good and feel good its all good.

Definitely Leggs Sheer Energy, with support, that should be able to help her out. Try shapings.com too, they have plenty of sizes and different styles of pantyhose, even support, some are affordable, some are expensive. Sometimes the more expensive is more comfortable and last longer too.

Well if you are looking for comfort you need to look for a few things.

1. They must be your size.

2. Find a brand that suits your body shape. Not all hose are sized the same way, in some brands the sizes get taller as they up , in other brands just wider.

3. Buy sheer to waist. control top by their nature squeeze.

4. Buy good quality hosiery. Cheap pantyhose are like cheap shoes, they are seldom comfortable and seldom last well.

I find that Gerbe, Wolford and Fogal are the among the most comfortable, as well as the most expensive. One feature they share is very good waistband design to that your hose stay up and don’t pinch.

I try to cover the fit and sizing in my reviews but of course I can’t try every size on every body shape.
