I heard of a rumor of a IL regional gathering this year in Shawnee. Anybody else heard about this or know any info?
I have been searching and havn’t found much.

i looked on alot of the sites and didnt see anything about a gathering in shawnee, i would love some more info if anyone has it!
Same- I havn’t been able to find much.
So if anyone can actually find info and post it….maybe do a little more than ridicule me (Hippyhillbilly) that would be a lot of help.

Ummm…Yeah…My Lady and I plan on being there, lots of folks might well be there who need to have my kid shown off to ‘em, southern IL only 4-5 hrs from here…If I find that it would not be politic to post dirrections, I should at least be able to send them out via private email…

This Human wonders why a goddess needs a ride? Can’t those divine types summon up a charriot pulled by magic mice, or something? i think godesses must travel incognito , and refrain from overly demonstrative superhuman feats . so they probly gots to take trains n planes n busses …..or go git them a ride in a car car .cause ive met some of em and they seemed to have the same travel problems as the rest of us peeps . anyhoo , ive got some friends down there in the normal area , as well as chicago . it would be cool to incorporate a visit with checking out the gathering .
i remember being informed at my one Shawnee experience that that particular gathering is an exception to the Rainbow minimal-impact ethos in that it happens at the same location every early october. if memory serves, its all happens on a NF pond, down some bumpy dirtroad south of Carbondale. If you’re serious about being there, check archives or else wait for more info when the date comes closer.
PS. you also might do a google on Cavestock, a local music festival near the Shawnee gathering. its quite a pretty venue.

howdy. I’m a shawnee local. I’ve heard that some advance folks were at a holding camp out near blessing hill (by the spillway from little cedar lake to cedar lake - the site of the 2004 regional) for a couple of weeks until last weekend.

I’ve heard that some road-dogs, a-campers, fat kids & elements of shut up and eat it moved a holding camp to whiskey ridge this week, but I haven’t been out myself.

I also googled this AM and found directions to a holding camp near pomona but can’t find those googling this evening. Those directions, approx, were: Illinois 127 to Pomona Road. Right at the T. 50 feet and turn left. This was basically followed by 2 rights and a left (going toward Jeruselem? Hill Baptist Church or somesuch). Very pretty country back in there. Some of it very fragile with endangered species. Please tread softly.

I see traces online of a number of intentions to visit Shawnee this year and have even had a few phone calls from folks looking for the holding camp(s).

My gut tells me there are rainbows in the woods in Shawnee in multiple locations. If intent on finding hippies in the woods, I’d make for Whiskey Ridge (prolly find directions at welcomehome from past gathers). Hopefully folks on the land will consense on a site in a week or so and info will be posted online @ alt gathering rainbow and/or welcome here. I’m workin’ babylonian big-time this year, but would still love to visit "home" on some daze off.

Yea, Shawnees goin on right now, here some pretty good energy has built around it. I wish I can be there, but Im Stuck in Texas getting my registration and crap like that. I want everyone that goes to take me with you, and have an awesome time Family!!

Just wanted to make a post about some found objects at Shawnee:

I don’t know how they got into my car but I know have several old Black and White photo prints of two men boxing and a family smiling. 5 or 6 prints all together.

I doubt I will find out who they belong to, but I would like to return them if I could.
