The Rainbow family was on TV last night on A&E’s Cold Case Files. It was about the ‘82 gathering and a guy named Outlaw traveling with a girl named Inlaw. They protrayed the gathering in a pretty good light - didn’t dis them at all. I guess this Outlaw was kicked out of that gathering - turned out to be not a nice guy.
Interesting…. happen to catch the episode number or the name of it?

On another note… after reading your post… I went looking for info and found out about something else in ‘83.

It was at the Crime Library and had to do with a child predator/serial killer.

Their own site shows that they reported inaccurate information; the Gathering in the Tetons took place in ‘94, even says this at the bottom of the page; we were there & certainly if many children had died, we’d have heard about it; few people got sick at that Gathering, cuz when the ‘Rainbow Rear Rage’ pops up, someone from CALM always shows up at Popcorn Palace for burnt corn (charcoal in edible form, filters the nasties out of one’s body) 1989 was Nevada & Cinnamon being brand new to Rainbow and to drinking ‘live’ water drank from an unfiltered spring & was fine; both of us agree that it was the best tasting water we’ve ever had.

Now North Carolina ‘87 had a high rate of sickness; & MO ‘96 was another Gathering with a lot of illness; but we’ve never heard about anyone at Rainbow dying from sanitation illnesses (and JuJu contends that the water in NC was fine until officials ‘tested’ the water; he got sick right afterward but had been at the Gathering for about 3 weeks before the ‘testing’; dysentary usually shows up within 2 weeks of drinking infected water; a close bro of his also got sick at NC and was diagnosed with a rare blood disease instead of dysentary…the ‘blood disease’ has not shown up in the bro since….)
crazy info i was a baby at the 1989 gathering and what happened was some idiot used river water in kid village food and alot of the children did get sick me included ( my mom said she spent the whole gathering washing diapers) but knowone that i know of or she knows of died and i’m pretty sure we would have heard of it.
Eewww! River water! You poor child! Your poor mom! Some people just don’t think; we shut our kitchen down early in Montana cuz someone filled water containers from the stream, felt pretty lucky that we found out before the water was used for anything.

Interesting side note: There was a toddler village in NV too, it was where Kiddie Village started at. Most of Kiddie Village moved down to the river about a week into seed camp but a few families stayed in toddler village which had the same water source as our camp.

They talked about the Rainbow family being about love and light and they showed some cool film too - it seemed to be a small gathering. They showed people standing in line at a kitchen and guys playing drums and a circle where people where "om’ing". What they said about Rainbow was that the Rainbow people were very tolerant of each other, so if they kicked this Outlaw and Inlaw out of the gathering, then they must of been some very bad people. They were stealing from the peace bus and taking peoples clothes, I think they said? They killed some poor local right after they were kicked out of the gathering.

On a side note, we had a pedophile hang out at the nudist camp for a short while. It was obvious, he followed the children around, was always watching them, tried to start conversations. His behavior was obviously inappropriate.
The club asked him to leave. I wish they were all so obvious!
I’ve looked at A & E’s web site and have figured out it was episode 114, but unfortunately they don’t give any descriptions of those segments. I don’t think they have it for sale either.
