My partner and I have been together for ten years (well in September) and we have often talked about adopting. I started the ball rolling a few days ago with my partner’s ok by calling a few agencies and seeing what options there are and doing some googling about adoption in our state. My question is, are there any other LGBT members of this forum who have adopted and if so do you have any advice?
I wish to speak with anyone who has gone through the process and has advice. I would even like to correspond with those who are considering like we are and haven’t gone through it yet. We both have wanted kids for quite some time and with the current political climate we thought we’d better act before our chances were taken away from us. We definitely want to go the adoption route rather than surrogacy or other means. We feel it’s better to give a home to someone in need rather than bring a new life into this world. We thought about foster parenting first but I was afraid that I’d become attached only to have the child taken away or returned to their family… there’s so much to think about… *SIGH* Thanks again.
